FAQs & GLOSSARY
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
For Practitioners
Q Why do you call your products the ‘Non Negotiables’?
A. Dp Dermaceuticals products were specifically created to be used pre-, during and post- Dermapen skin
needling and other rejuvenation treatments. They are the ‘Non Negotiable’ products for these treatments
because they are the only recommended and approved range that can be safely infused into the skin for
beneficial results without potential risks.
Q
Q. is it okay to use other products with Dermapen and other rejuvenation processes?
Is it okay to use other products with Dermapen and other rejuvenation processes?
A. Our products include potent active ingredients specifically chosen to help build up the skin quality prior to
treatment, as well as to be used during and after treatment to soothe and nourish skin and enhance results.
In addition, other skincare ranges may not be safe for infusion, and often contain molecules that are too large
to allow for free movement of actives within the skin. Choosing Dp Dermaceuticals ensures optimal treatment
results.
Q
Q. Are your products suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types and heritages?
Are your products suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types and heritages?
A. Dp Dermaceuticals products are safe for use on all types of skin from Fitzpatrick 1 (more sensitive) to
Fitzpatrick V or V1 (those with a higher risk of pigmentation concerns).
Q
Q. How do you determine the strength of the ingredients in each of your products?
How do you determine the strength of the ingredients in each of your products?
A. The active ingredients and strengths included in each of our products are based on their indication and
clinical efficacy. We work closely with dermatologists and clinicians globally to research and develop each
formulation so that it delivers what it says it will, and for the right skincare condition. Many skincare companies
market their products based on the high strengths of particular ingredients, which may make them unstable
and detrimental to the health of the skin. We believe in choosing ingredients in strengths that you can trust
will work with the skin’s natural biology not against it.
Q
Q. What is the difference between the different forms of vitamin A, e.g. retinol, retinal and retinyl?
What is the difference between the different forms of vitamin A, e.g. retinol, retinal and retinyl?
A. Retinol is a retinoid that has been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth skin
texture, and improve overall skin tone. A retinoid is a class of vitamin A compounds and derivatives that come
in different forms and strengths.
Retinaldehyde (also known as retinal) is used in many Dp Dermaceuticals products. It is another retinoid that
has been shown to improve the feel of firmness and elasticity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles
and rough skin. It is one of the more gentler retinoids available and more tolerated on sensitive skin than retinol.
Both retinaldehyde and retinol have to be first converted by skin enzymes to the only active form of vitamin
A (i.e. retinoic acid) before they are effective via the following conversion process:
Retinyl Palmitate • Retinol • Retinaldehyde • Retinoic Acid (Tretinoin)
Retinyl palmitate is a vitamin A ester, made by combining palmitic acid with retinol. It is considered a less
irritating form of retinol, and is gentler on sensitive skin because of the lengthier process that must take place
for it to be converted into retinoic acid.
Q
Q. Are your products vegan-friendly?
Are your products vegan-friendly?
